MusicFilter: ID this vaguely-described blues/rock artist

SongSearch: The other day I heard a terrific bluesy rock song and I'd like to know the artist/band. The vocalist has a great sneering style - sorta like a Jagger/Van Morrison hybrid. Lyrics were cliched "rolling down the highway" type stuff but man, it sounded so good. Anyone have a clue who I'm talking about? Think Allman Brothers fronted by Johnny Thunders.

The Hives? (some music here)

Also sounds kinda like The Darkness or maybe the White Stripes. But there is a lot of new music that sounds like your description--any more clues?

Your description is too vague but I'll throw you The Black Keys as they're the shizzle when it comes to bluesy rock these days. MP3s: 1 2.

Seriously, you just described 3/4 of the new music being played on "modern rock" radio these days.

"Life is a Highway" by Tom Cochran? That's the only song that came to mind with your description, davebush. I'd link to the lyrics I found, but, well, it's a lyrics site and they don't play nice.
