X-country Near DC

Good cross-country skiing near Washington, DC?

I've seen sites that compare various downhill sites in the area, but little about the x-country opportunities.

I'm not looking for anything extreme, just some nice, well-groomed trails, and rental facilities on site. And the shorter the drive from DC the better - I'd hope for around 2 hours max drivetime.

I was going to suggest Wintergreen, but further research indicates that they don't actually have cross country trails. I could have sworn that they did!

Anyway, here is guide to cross country spots in the Mid-Atlantic. Since you want a rental on site, I'd guess that Wisp, in Maryland, would be your best bet. They have 31 miles of trails!

Not sure where in DC you are, which would affect travel time.

Yeah Wisp has cross-country but they call it "Nordic Center-xc." I've never done it because their 30+ trails are too fun but it's a 50KM course with different terrain. It costs 10\15$ for the day with your own equipment and 40$ with rental.
You can pay for a guide package with your rental too.
