What martial arts movie is this? White good guy vs. bigger fatter black bad guy in the end?

I remember watching this movie on HBO in the 90s when I was around 12 or so. It's about a white guy being trained by a fat black guy who also turns out being the main bad guy at the end with a unique fighting style and so they both end up fighting each other in the end. That was a huge twist, and didn't see it coming because the movie made it seem that they were really turning out to be real good friends.

Any ideas?

What style martial arts was it? Ninjitsu, kung-fu, karate, etc?

All I remember at the end was the black guy had some crazy different style that after each strike there was a long pause before he delivered the next blow and the white guy was completely stunned.
