Podcasting question

Podcasting - where to put them? I am starting a podcast and the push that got me going was a sponsored website to put them on.

After I got started I saw the 50 meg limit. It's going to fill too fast. Recommendations? What I'm thinking is that I need a free website for an archive. Also streaming seems to be an option but I don't really understand it. Would streaming help me?

Would a service like talkshoe work for you?

The audio would be hosted there, they provide RSS feeds, and then you link to it from your website.

Try JellyCast from Positive Internet (they have a calculator on that page too). They host the popular Ricky Gervais podcast, and Stephen Fry's Podgrams podcast.

If you want something a bit cheaper, try any web host. Dreamhost is cheap and gives you a lot of bandwidth.

This page seems useful too.

As for streaming: most streaming isn't. Real streaming means that there is a proper streaming server and a client that tells the server when it needs more data. The server makes sure the client gets enough data to ensure uninterrupted playback. Most "streaming" nowadays is normally just a file download that you can play as you download it: just like a normal download, no special sauce.

if you have a site with an archive (even a free one, like Blogspot or something), you can register it in iTunes as well that might help you get some visibility. It basically plugs into your RSS feed, so you will need a site first.

LibSyn (Liberated Syndication) might be just what you need.
