I think I've seen them at places like Target; is there one (or an analogue) in Toronto?

From this 2 year old thread elsewhere, "if you live in toronto, there's a store in the Beach called Storyville. They have good quality ones there as well as cheaper ones."

Another Googled answer returns, "There is a place on Queen St West just east of Bathurst on the North side. I do not recall the name but they sell all sorts of retro stuff including lava lamps."

It's also rumored that Walmart has lava lamps, but I was unable to find them on the .ca website. It might also be something back in the lighting department at Canadian Tire.

Mind you, I can't say for certain since I'm hobbled by old .ca experience and Google. Toronto is a long way from Las Vegas where I sit.

@shagoth: I'll definitely check out Storyville, thx for the tip.
@janepanic: Really nice offer, I appreciate it! However, this is a gift, so I feel I should buy new...

Spencer Gifts carries these lava lamps. There's one at the Square One Shopping Center and their other Canadian stores are listed here.

Nthing WalMart - they've got a whole aisle full of kitschy novelty lights and other items; you'll find the lava lamps there.

I actually came up empty - no luck at Storyville (out of business), Canadian Tire, Walmart, Science City, two Zellers, Winners, the Bay, Mind Games, the store referenced above at Queen east of Bathurst, Urban Outfitters, or about 4 or 5 other stores we dropped in on.

Everyone was either out of stock or no longer carried them - weird!

Anyway, got a cool lamp that was fun in a different way. Thanks for the pointers...
