How do you get garnets in the TinkerBell DS game?

My daughter is stuck on the game before her first winter. Bring garnets, says the Minister of Autumn. But... we can't find garnets. I've looked around for a walkthrough and found a helpful guide at GameFAQs, but it doesn't actually seem to help in our situation.

We can't jewel hunt with Iridessa -- she won't do anything but chat with us (even after several days since playing last). We haven't yet brought in our first winter so we don't have Vidia to race; and we don't have Fairy Mary to hand out darts, either.

Are we missing something really obvious? I mean, this is supposed to be a game a 6-year-old could manage on her own, right?

This is so embarrassing.

As far as I can tell from a bit of googling, there's no trick to it that you're missing. It sounds like the only thing you're supposed to be able to do (at the point your daughter is at) is go jewel hunting with Iridessa, which is apparently limited to once a day. You've obviously already tried this, so my first guess would be a bug in the game.

But, are there any other jobs or things to do? Perhaps you're not supposed to be able to go jewel hunting before you've finished some other task, and the game's just not very well planned out.
Otherwise you could try manually changing the date to tomorrow's in the DS's settings, to force Iridessa to let you go hunting with her. Though the game might complain if it notices you've changed it.

If you go to the big Pixie Dust Tree in the middle of Pixie Hollow, there is a flower-looking thing that is blue. You can go inside (it is a shop). In the shop, there is a dartboard. Sometimes there are gems on the dartboard. The gem you want might be there, but you need fairy darts to play. (You get the darts from repairing things and also from Fairy Mary who checks on you at the end of the day.)

lucidium, I think that may be the problem -- an unifinished quest my daughter forgot about, and that the game isn't reminding her of. Still, she's been playing the game off and on for a month and never got past this point, sooo... Just to be sure, I did change the date and the time on the DS for tomorrow, with no joy. It's not letting her catch fireflies for Iridessa, either, which I'm pretty sure she's done before.

lia: This would be lovely, but you don't unlock Fairy Mary until the first winter. We need the garnet to bring in that first winter. :)
