Substitute for Nabob tea

What's a close substitute for Nabob tea?

My elderly grandma loves Nabob tea - so much that she usually has a few bags in her purse to use at restaurants. However, Nabob has discontinued their tea and it is now impossible to find. Can you recommend a tea that would taste fairly similar? Something available in teabags would be best, but this is a desperate situation for an octagenarian.

She lives in a small city in Canada.

Thanks.

Orange Pekoe?

Tried Red Rose, Tetley, etc?

I don't know the Nabob taste myself.

No answers in this thread, but more people remarking on the same:

Acquired Tastes Tea Company is a Canadian company that does mail order. They should be familiar with Nabob, and may be able to suggest some substitutes.

Another couple of links.

I'm not super picky, I would move on to another brand personally. Another couple I've tried are Harrods, Overwaitea (aka SaveOn Foods, etc) as well as loose teas, other orange pekoe and ceylon teas.

Jumping back in to say Canadian Red Rose is actually pretty decent (much better than what is sold in the U.S.), and widely available, has she tried it?

King Cole tea should be a good substitute -- a strong, almost smoky flavour that I seem to remember was not too far off Nabob. It's not to my taste in teas, but it's my 80+ mother-in-law's fave. It's widely available in Atlantic Canada, and it's in my local grocery store here in Calgary. However, it also appears you can buy it online.

Response by poster: Thanks everyone for these suggestions. I'll send this along to my grandma!

(I agree about moving along to another brand, but that may not be easy for someone who is elderly.)
