What site gives a breakdown of who appears on your local ballot along with information on their voting record?

hmm, hopefully your county department of elections website. they should at least have a copy of the voter's pamphlet online.

Response by poster: I've seen it before, but I can't remember the URL. The site was not Declare Yourself. It allowed you to enter a zip code and would present you with the relevant info.

This thread gives good advice. Including a link to Project Votesmart. That may be the site you're thinking of.

Response by poster: Awesome. Thanks stuart_s!

Project Vote Smart should be added to the Metafilter sidebar.

It's a shame that they don't list policy statements from the candidates unless they fill out their NPAT questionnaire.

It would be a better resource if they just did the research, and went to the candidate's websites to get the readily available information...

Holy shit. I was looking up my local Senator Sam Brownback (who I knew was bad from the fact he has evil horns), and even though I wasn't going to vote for him being that he is evil -- I didn't realize how evil he was. From this site
The fact is, Sam Brownback is a member of this "elect" cult and has co-sponsored Senate bill 2082, designed to allow federal, state, and local government officials to overrule all other laws by appealing to the "higher source" of all law ("God") and to forbid the Supreme Court from doing anything about it.

"Unbelievable? Here's S. 2082's proposed addition to Sec. 1260 of Title 28, Chapter 81 of the U.S. Code:

"Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the Supreme Court shall not have jurisdiction to review, by appeal, writ of certiorari, or otherwise, any matter to the extent that relief is sought against an element of Federal, State, or local government, or against an officer of Federal, State, or local government (whether or not acting in official personal capacity), by reason of that element's or officer's acknowledgement of God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government."
What the fuck Sammy? Unfortunately electoral-vote.com lists him as having a 66% to 33% lead over the Democrat.

But there's more. Upon further research, he's apparently also instigated senate hearings on how rap lyrics cause Jesus to cry heavily. The Pitch did several articles on him. If there was a liberal incumbant half as liberal as he is conservative he'd be all over the news. I gotta get out of this backward state.

Thanks for the link!
