Will work for webcam!

I am looking for a good low end webcam. Anybody got any recommendations ? WinXP/2000 compatible (linux drivers would also be nice but not essential). Price is a factor since I am a pov.

If I can piggy-back - I've just acquired a low-end webcam (don't know what model, I was given it) - and was wondering what nifty things I can do with it?
