A male author entranced by women's "Little Things".

A male writer wrote about his appreciation of "Little Things", all the small and entrancingly feminine knickknacks and accouterments women have that men do not. Things he had no idea what to do with, like, perhaps, an eyelash curler. Do you know who this is? I am trying to find the author and source.

Have you read any Michael Chabon? It sounds like something from Wonder Boys.

Sounds like something Nicholson Baker might write, although I can't remember a specific passage that matches. Maybe "Mezzanine"?

I was also thinking of Nicholson Baker. It has that "fascinating yet asshole-ish" feel to it.

This definitely rings a bell as something I read recently. Problem is I've only been reading Cormac McCarthy recently, and it doesn't really sound like him. Maybe something online then?

Yes, definitely online. (Though it could have been something excerpted from a book!) It may have been more of a pop-writer, like Nick Hornby....

I don't think it's quite what you're looking for, but David Sedaris talks a bit about men's vs. women's accessories before test driving the Stadium Pal (video).

Incidentally, I have launched the Flickr group without knowing the author's name: Little Things Belonging to Women.
