Question: Get 2005 Lincoln keyless entry working.

Asking for a friend. 2005 Lincoln LS - bought secondhand. There are a set of buttons to open the door (as opposed the key). How do we get them to work / program it? I know we have to enter the factory preset code - how do we find that out.

Every car with a code I've ever owned has had something near or in the owner's manual about this. One had a place to write the code in the back of the manual; another had a little card that fit into a pocket in the manual case, with the code embossed on it; another just had a sheet of paper that went with the manual that said how to do it.

Any luck with that?

A Lincoln dealer would be able to use a device to detect the code.

A dealership can definitely figure out the code for you, but most likely they will act like it's a big ordeal to detect/reset it, and they'll try to charge you an outrageous fee to do so. You might have some luck looking and/or asking on an online forum for Lincoln owners.

On my lincoln, the code was printed on one of the struts that supports the trunk.

Ditto checking the owner's manual; I have a Lincoln and the original code is right inside the case for the owner's manual.
I was going to say the same thing- the code is printed (hidden) somewhere inside the car.
