CHristmas wordplay

My girlfriend has a set of blocks that spell out, "Merry Christmas". They are sitting on a table in the lving room. Today I decided to re-arrange them.

I made it my goal to use all of the letters. The one I came up with reads, " Im Smart Cherrys". Can anyone think of any others?

If you're not above cheating, The Internet Anagram Server could be helpful.

wordsmith.com has an anagram maker... it also has an advanced section to fine tune the results... I would suggest using that.

Here is the link to the anagrams for Merry Christmas : Here!

There is some humor value in retaining "Christ" and simply rearranging "Merry" and "mas." For example:

CHRIST REAMS MY

The Anagram Server does not have the word "Christ" in its dictionary, so it will never come up with that if you just give it "Merry Christmas."

We used to do this with a massively depleted magnetic alphabet (I think there were 9 or 10 letters left), and it was always fun to find unexpected words by turning some letters upside-down or on their sides. The slight wrong-looking-ness just adds to the fun.

If you can do this with the blocks, then switching the Ms into Ws, for example, gives:
Satyr Crews Whir
Awry Wretch Sirs
We Shirr Wry Cats
and more.

If the H is a capital letter, and can be turned sideways to make an I, you get:
Merry Scimitars
Stir Smarmy Rice
etc

I think you should come up with a different anagram for each day....

My mom had porcelain letters that spell out "NOEL" and it was the highlight of my year to piss her off all throughout the holiday season by rearranging them to spell "LEON". Over. And over. And over.

May this bring you as much joy.

From the links above, but:

Martyr Smirches

is certainly…interesting, given the origins of the day and whatnot.

You could also think outside the box a bit: if the letters are all caps, you can use an upside-down M as W, or a sideways M as E or vice versa. Sideways H = I and vice versa. I'll leave it to others to determine whether this generates any other interesting possibilities.

(Similar to padraigin, my mom has fridge magnets that spell out NOEL, plus six holly leaves. I'm fond of making a giant "A" out of five of the leaves and using it to spell ALONE.)
