How to release the blade on a folding knife

How do I release the blade and close this CRKT Kommer Full Throttle Knife?

I feel like a dope, but my experience with Swiss Army knives and Leatherman Tools has apparently not equipped me to operate my shiny new knife, which came with instructions for opening it, but none for releasing the blade lock and closing it. There are no obvious buttons or blade lock levers to push.

Could it be a liner lock? In which case, you push the little metal piece over like so.

Also, other outburst knives seem to all have a pronounced button where the blade hinges. Have you tried pressing that?

It does look like a liner lock knife. A comment here seem to confirm that.

Response by poster: I have tried pressing the brass hinge, with no success. It does not move at all; I think it's just a hinge.

I have looked within the handle and not seen anything resembling liner lock lever; absolutely nothing resembling the photo Doctor S linked to.

I bought this on Steep and Cheap at a discount. I wonder if they shipped a defective knife. Returning an open knife will be a challenge

Any way you could put some photos up of the knife from other angles? The stock images don't let anyone see inside, or elsewhere on the knife, which makes it hard to help.

My bet is that you physically pull the blade in the direction it points while holding the handle. Don't know if that makes sense---hold the handle in your left hand. Do not move your left hand. Hold the blade in a pinch with your right hand, and pull it in the direction the tip of the blade is pulling. After you pull away from your left hand, fold your hand down in the direction the knife closes.

This seems to indicate there's a tiny release somewhere. I'll keep digging.

Response by poster: Ah. I was thinking the lever lock was a separate piece, but it is integral to the handle, bending the case side outwards by the blade hinge releases the blade. Boy is that not intuitive, or at least not how my mind works. Would it have killed CRKT to include clues for the clueless? Anyway, thanks everyone!

Ahh ruined link. Trying again. Here's the PDF from the manufacturer, call them. Here's the comment I tried to link to before. (scroll down.)

The good people at benchmade want to help. See which one of these applies (I believe your knife is a liner-lock, but there are several possible latches): http://www.benchmade.com/about_knives/locking_mechanisms.asp

I have one of these knives (also bought from SaC). If you're holding the knife in your right hand, the blade is releasable with your thumb by pushing on the ridged black part of the knife near the chrome clip. That is, put your thumb on the ridged part and move it *towards* the clip side of the knife. The blade should unlock and then you can carefully fold it back into the handle. The lock is pretty straightforward and it's fairly obvious how it works if you look at how the base of the blade is attached to the handle.

On preview: whoops. Looks like you figured it out.
