Is this a good stereo?

I'm thinking of upgrading my car's stereo; I still have a tape deck in there! I've located a Sony unit that seems to fit all of my requirements, Sony MEXBT2600. It has built in Bluetooth. Has anyone had any experience with such units?

I'm particularly interested in bluetooth speakerphone functionality. Reviews on amazon page seem to be divided. I'd have to guess that on some cars it works very well due to the placement of the unit, and on some cars it doesn't. I think I would have a pretty clear path to the built in microphone from drivers seat. Anyway it this a good unit? The price seems right.

I have a Clarion unit with Bluetooth capability. I like it quite a bit. It has an external microphone connection which I wired to the top of the steering wheel mount, which seems to help my transmit signal a bit. I don't know if that Sony comes with an extra mic or if its only built in.

On mine, the bluetooth connects immediately upon turning the car on, which is nice, but it flips the input on the head unit over to "BT Audio" for streaming, even though I don't use that feature. I have to flip it back over to whatever input I want every time.

Overall, I haven't had many complaints from whoever I'm talking to regarding sound quality, and I can hear them just fine, even when the engine is at its most audible.

Are you comfortable with installing it yourself? If not, ordering from crutchfield gets you all the necessary parts and instructions specific to your car. It also might be worth going to a local electronics store and playing with it a bit. See how intuitive it is to use and such.
