Can You ID An Unusual 80's Movie?

In an obscure late 80's art house film, a woman, instead of cleaning the sidewalk after her dog, spray paints the dog's turd gold. We recognized the shot's location as a corner in Soho. Since we were Manhattanites, we would occasionally find ourselves at the location, and we would enjoy seeing the gold splotch on the sidewalk with the poo-shaped silhouette in its center -- real world evidence of an event in a movie. Can anyone identify this movie? I can't recall it anymore.

Are you looking for the original spray paint silhouette? After 20 years I'd be extremely surprised if any trace remained. Urban sidewalks undergo a lot of abuse.

Seconding this, it only takes a couple years for spray paint to fade off sidewalks, at least with the weather here in chicago.

This Joshua Neustein seems to have been in on the 'painting dog shit gold' scene [see 1988], but no mention of a movie, so dunno if he just got the idea from the movie you saw, or if perhaps you saw something related to him?

The paint is no doubt gone by now. It was fading even then. I'm trying to find the movie. I'm guessing Mondo New York or Apartment Zero, based on nothing but vague memory of the films I saw around that time. I know it isn't Liquid Sky.

It's the right time frame, but this scene was just an odd moment in a feature length film, not in any way central to the film.
