Those are ceramic for a reason. What are you trying to do exactly? posted by andreap at 1:58 PM on December 5, 2008
Me thinks if you google with "lamp holder" rather than socket , you will have better luck.
I tried a few, but no luck. posted by raildr at 2:05 PM on December 5, 2008
That picture is not a lamp socket, it's a "ceiling mount light bulb socket". Usually they're ceramic, as it's non-conductive. Not sure where you could get a brass one. Could you get a ceramic one and paint it? posted by JuiceBoxHero at 2:30 PM on December 5, 2008
Here's one that is square and costs $350 from some foofy designer. If I were you I'd seriously consider some primer and brass-colored spray paint. posted by contraption at 2:30 PM on December 5, 2008
Caveat (FWIW): Mask-off the socket hole before applying the metallic spray paint. posted by ZenMasterThis at 7:08 PM on December 5, 2008
This guy has a few old vintage style ones you might like on ebay. They're reasonably priced. posted by bonobothegreat at 8:53 PM on December 7, 2008
