Question: How to archive email messages

I'm trying to create a better audit trail of email correspondence at work - using Outlook. Is it possible to simply bcc messages to one of an established set of document file folders?

I don't want to create a mail folder hierarchy that is entirely parallel to the document folder hierarchy that already exists. I want to keep these messages with other associated Word, Excel, etc. docs. In essence, I'd like to avoid the process of creating the email, sending the email, looking in sent mail for the message, saving the email as a .msg file to the appropriate file folder somewhere.

I'm no Outlook geek, so please be gentle. Am I hosed, or just lacking in basic file management/Outlook skilz?

Thanks!

I'm not quite sure this is what you're looking for, but try the SpeedFiler Outlook plug-in. It can handle both public and local folders (i.e., with/without Exchange server). SpeedFiler guesses where you want to file your outgoing email (with attachments) and saves it in that folder. For messages that you are replying to, you can configure it to automagically file your reply message with the original message. I've been using it for about 2 years and it's very handy and quite stable.

Sorry if I didn't quite understand your question.

Interesting webhund. I'll take a look at the demo and see what's possible. Thanks for the suggestion.
