Please help me find (online, or in a major Canadian store) some slippers that fit the following strict requirements: fluffy on the inside, thick comfy sole, and, most importantly, are closed around the heel without being a boot. It seems that everything I find that fits the first two requirements is clog-style, and that absolutely won't do. The closest I can find are moccasins, but the gift recipient doesn't like leather/fur. Any suggestions?

Not that I'm really loving this company's usual designs, but these are croc slippers that look somewhat like ballet shoes and are vegetarian.

You might try Nordikas (that's a UK catalog but I'm sure they're sold in Canada). I've had mine over a year now and am torn between hating the way they look (they were a gift) and loving the way they keep my feet warm but not sweaty.

Since the first kind are easy to find, why don't you buy a pair and sew on a heel strap?

I guess suede is out too? Too bad, those were the nicest looking offerings.

Fleece ones from Canada Zappos - good reviews.

Faux Suede moccasins from Sears.ca

Somewhere between a boot and a slipper - faux suede from Sears.ca. Check the site out - there are a whole bunch of options. Look at the actual product page because many look suede or furry but they're mostly man-made materials!

I'm not exactly sure what clog style means. I own both of these slippers:
fuzzy crocs and terry.

The crocs I've even shoveled snow in; you can remove the liners for cleaning/drying and they definitely have the solid plastic outside.

The terry ones have a solid sole but will get wet b/c the outside is just fuzzy.
