Where'd Bam go?

Where in Africa did Afrika Bambaataa go in the 1970s after he left the Black Spades?

All I can find is that he went to "Africa." As a continent with 53 countries on it, I suspect that he didn't visit each nation. I need to know where exactly he went, in what year, and for how long. Thanks in advance!

I found a reference saying that the trip in question happened in 1973, but nothing else. The rest of the biographical information I read suggests that it wasn't terribly long, no longer than a few months at best, because he was active in NYC as early as 1975.

Yeah, I found that too. I just wonder why exactly he's never been specific about where in Africa he went or why nobody knows. I teach a class on early hip-hop and I've had a few students ask, and despite my google-fu and library resources, I can't seem to find out. Thanks!
