What's the orange guy from "the Fruit of the Loom guys" supposed to be? {come on in}

From the official logo, the only orange thing I see is a kumquat..or something. But that guy in the costume sure isn't a kumquat. Or any other fruit I know of, unless it's rotten. I thought maybe he could be some leaves but I really have no clue.

What's with the green grape guy? Is it just me or does he look a bit like GWB? And the older guy in the middle, is he a cardboard cutout? What does Berkshire Hathaway have to do with all of this? Omaha Civic?
