Trying to remember the title/artist of a spooky werewolf song from the 1980's that played on the radio in Michigan.

When I was living in Northern Michigan in the late 1980's (I figure I was about 13 or 14 when I heard this song; so 1986-87), there was a song/story about a "wolfman" that used to play on the radio. I'm sure that it played during Halloween time. It was a sufficiently spooky enough song that it's remained lodged in my mind for years. Something about scratches on the door. Fangs and claws. Etc. A male singer. The intro of the song is more a story rather than music. I also seem to think it was a relatively "local" song and may not have gotten much playtime outside of the northwoods. I know details are scarce here, but am hoping that someone else might remember it and know the song name or artist.

Would that be "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon? Even if it's not the one you're looking for, it's a great song.

Nope, not nearly as well-known as "Werewolves of London". I'm fairly sure this was probably a song/story done by a local or area artist; at least it seemed that way to me at the time

I grew up there--artdrectr's got the lyrics you seek. I thought this guy Cook had the stage name of Bob Farley, but I could be remembering that wrong.

Ah, artdrectr has it! Of course, listening to it now reveals that it's way more cheesy than my impressionable 14-year-old self remembers. But thanks for the trip down memory lane. The Legend of Dog-man lives on.
