My new first generation Ipod touch can connect via a USB 1 hub to Itunes, but it gives errors when trying to restore or synchronize via any USB 2.0 port on my computer. I have windows XP and I tried everything suggested by apple support. his problem seems to be independednt of firmaware version. Should I take it in to the Apple store?

Are you sure it's the iPod? There could be an issue with your iTunes install. You could also have a bad USB port. What all has Apple support suggested?

Response by poster: I performed the operations listed in the webpage, that is, reinstall Itunes, ensure the correct USB driver is loaded, also update USB drivers in general.

Try another cable. Hardware-wise, I think that would be the most likely culprit.
