My head is too big.

I have a papier mache Carnival mask that's too narrow for my face. It curls back to sort of wrap around the temples, which instead digs into my head. How can I open it up a bit? Will steaming it work?

When I was in Venice buying masks the mask shop owner widened one of his papier mache masks by using a hair dryer on it to heat it up. I think this loosens the glue they use so you can pull the mask open, hold it and it'll then set in place again.
