I saw a really cool ad for Fight Club featured on the awesome channel G4. What I am after is the soundtrack to that ad, does anyone know what it was? Or possibly where there are scores like it? It was basically a 30 second really intense drum beat. I know this is vague, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't seen the ad but I do know that the Dust Brothers did the score for the movie, so that's the logical place to look.

Best answer: Here's a link to the Fight Club soundtrack. It says;

"Studio wizards the Dust Brothers (John King and Mike Simpson) are best known for the hip-hop-laced electronic soundscapes they've built behind Beck (ODELAY) and ... Full Descriptionthe Beastie Boys (PAUL'S BOUTIQUE). Abandoning pop music for a moment, King and Simpson turn their talents to the soundtrack of FIGHT CLUB. For this film about consumerism and catharsis in the modern world, the Dust Brothers created a moody synth-based tapestry full of foreboding. The overt pop techniques of their previous work are eschewed in favor of something more atmospheric. The turntable scratches of "Who is Tyler Durden," the dark trip-hop feel of "What is Fight Club?," and the breakbeats on "Single Serving Jack" provide ample sonic fingerprints, but FIGHT CLUB finds the Dust Brothers venturing into new territory as well."

I would try one of those for starters.

I also just noticed the soundtrack is available on iTunes. Why not load iTunes and do a search for the soundtrack. You know you can preview each track for 30 seconds for free, right?

I've got the Dust Brothers Fight Club soundtrack, and it's got *lots* of 30 second stretches of intense drumbeats without any lyrics - I reckon it'll definitely be on there somewhere.

Yeah the soundtrack is really great, and probably where the sample is from. I would try the tracks "Hessel, Raymond K." and Commissioner Castration" for starters.

ok, well, i just saw the commercial twice*, and then i listened to the previews on itunes. none of them matched it directly, but i could see how other mefites would say it would definitely be on the fight club soundtrack. the problem with the itunes snippet is that so many different things can happen in a song beyond those 30 seconds. it's not commissioner castration, homework, who is tyler durdan? or hessel, raymond k. (i have been rewinding my dvr for a half hour comparing it to the full tracks).

*commercial came on during the credits for cops, and it is a part of the movies that don't suck line-up.

g4 has a feature where you can ask their prez a question, so i submitted yours, just in case they picked the music and it is not a part of the fight club score.

The songs on the soundtrack definitely have a lot going on, as jrodsgirl points out, and I don't think you could necessarily identify it from the iTunes sample. Maybe if someone can find a link to the commercial...
