Will an IKEA bedframe fit into a Prius?

Prius owners: have you successfully brought home a full size IKEA bed frame in your car?

Ideally, I would like to fit something like the Aneboda frame and two people into the car. (I don't own a Prius but would have access to one through a car sharing program, or possibly a coworker.) The largest package is 76" x 1.62" x 29.5". Is this possible?

I think it's going to be awful close, but do-able. I can measure the length of the interior (for the 76" length) after I fold down the seats after work for you. The other dimensions are easy - in fact, I put a 29" pizza in my hatchback w/o folding down the seats last night. Was also able to fit the MALM bedside table boxes (one on top of the other) in there last weekend without folding the seats down.

FWIW, mine is a 2007 Prius.

Also, here's a thread on a Prius chatboard that might be of use.

I have brought home a full size IKEA bed frame in a 2004 Mini Cooper S - alone. It took a lot of work! Especially as it was a friend's car and I was basically totally unfamiliar with it. But, with a bike rack on the top to stow things to and a short drive that involved no time on the highway I got everything home in one piece.

Thanks po822000, I'll check that thread out this afternoon.

But, with a bike rack on the top to stow things to and a short drive that involved no time on the highway I got everything home in one piece.

Unfortunately, the two IKEAs in the vicinity are about 30+ miles away from my apartment, and require driving on a highway -- so if it couldn't all fit inside the car I wouldn't want to risk it.

On the other side of the coin, I bought a queen size frame from IKEA and couldn't fit it in my Camry. In fact, I had trouble getting it and the Hemnes mirror into a small truck. I'd suggest bringing bungee cords in addition to using the tie-downs IKEA provides.

What year prius? I had a 2003 (that's the original model) and used to stuff my skis in their ski bag into it. Put down the right front seat, angle from left back footwell up to right front... and it worked. You can still fit two people in the car (one driver, and a person behind the right front seat).

I should think this would only be easier with a hatchback.

Talk about specific: I have transported a size full Aneboda frame in the package in my prius with one other person. I have also transported a full-size Malm bed in my prius, mattress and all, but in pieces, not boxes. I don't know if the extra inches on the queen would make a difference, but I doubt it.

Well, I haven't brought home a bedframe, but just last week I managed to get an entire pax wardrobe system in my Pruis without issue. Fold the front seat flat and you should be fine. I sat in the backseat behind the driver.

For reference, the product dimensions on (one of) my Pax were:
Width: 39 3/8 "
Depth: 23 5/8 "
Height: 79 1/8 "

Sorry, those were the finished dimensions. Below are the flatpack dimensions. You should be fine.

Article number:40014000
Width:24 1/2"
Height:3 1/4"
Length:82 5/8"
Weight:110lb
Quantity:1

emyd: Great, that's exactly what I needed to know! (I would also be getting a full/double size frame too, not a queen.) I already have a mattress -- I only need the frame and bed slats -- so it sounds like I shouldn't have any trouble.

Thank you everyone for your help!
