Sharing a folder.

I'd like some instructions on how to grant somebody, who is outside my local network, read and write access to a folder on a computer. Mac OS X 10.5.5 and not at all familiar with this process. Said computer is behind a router/switch.

Get Dropbox at getdropbox.com. Does exactly what you need to do with zero hassle. You won't be able to give them access to a specific folder on your system, but a folder that Dropbox blesses.

Otherwise, you'd have to do some work with your router to allow access and then use FTP or SSH to move data around.

A Hamachi is fine, too!

I second the Drobox nod from @bprater. And the content will be web-accessible as well, even. Just be careful if this not your home network and your personal machine as most companies frown on these security workarounds, even if they are well-intentioned and not immediately prohibited by the network security configuration.
