Apple Remote controlling Bose Sounddock?

How would I get my Apple remote that came with my white MacBook to control my Bose Sounddock?

If I do manage to get it connected, how would I unpair it from my MacBook so I'm not controlling two devices at once?

The Apple remote is not, so far as I am aware, programmable in any way.

Kindall is right. The only programmability you get is by customizing the Mac you are controlling, using something like the (very slick) Remote Buddy app.

Its not possible I'm afraid.

If you want a remote to control both, look at the Logitech Harmony. As a bonus, it'll also handle your TV, satellite box, DVD and anything else that has a remote.

I have one and its replaced my previous five.

Can a Logitech Harmony remote control the following components?

Sony TV
Sony STR-DE197 AV reciever
Sony Bluray player

Harmony can control any infrared device. Certainly it will control any mainstream brand such as Sony.

You could build an IR repeating device that translates the Apple remote codes to Bose.
