Another "specific music recommendations" thread.

Here's a portion of a playlist I've had brewing for a while now, in no particular order. Isolate the emotional theme and extend.

Tunnels (Arcade Fire)
Drive (R.E.M.)

This would work better if you could sort of define the emotional theme you are looking for, but I'll give it a shot:


Maximo Park - Karaoke Plays
The National - Fake Empire [and pretty much the whole of Boxer]
Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up to Dry [and a lot of Robbers and Cowards including Hospital Beds]

I second The National's Boxer - the day I discovered that album was indeed a great day!

Also, try Augie March (Sunset Studies and Moo, You Bloody Choir) and/or Doves, (Lost Souls is great) oldies but goodies.

Flaming Lips Race for the Prize!!! maybe the whole Soft Bulletin album would be your cup of tea..

I bet the Hold Steady would have some songs like this, imho they suuuuuuuck, but a lot of people with good taste like them
