dub techno

Recommend similar artists to bvdub and quantec.

I'm interested in this "dub techno" genre of electronic music that is kind of down-tempo borderline drone-y. Kaito is also kind of in the ballpark but he is more melodic than what I'm looking for. Any recommendations that are similar would be appreciated.

Here is a list of artists tagged with "dub techno". You can listen to some of them here with the player in the top right.

Best answer: The list from stavrogin is pretty good. The specific artists from that list that you probably want are:
- Rhythm and Sound
- Basic Channel
- Echospace
- Maurizio
- Convextion
- Deepchord
- Rod Modell
- Scion
- Pole
- Probably Porter Ricks

A lot of the other people on that list strike me as more melodic than what you are looking for. If you have trouble finding stuff, MeMail me. I can point you to some public live sets and podcasts that should interest you.

Oh jeez, I forgot to big up hometown label Zero G Sounds. If you find any Soultek, Dubloner, or Polycubist material in the wild, they're also very good.

mkb's list is great. You might also expand your searches to include "ambient dub." Couple more places to look:

Ambience for the Masses, especially the dub section. The site is a bit out of date, but is nicely organized and may turn up a couple of interesting things for you.

Bill Laswell's Sacred Dub podcasts are somewhat hit-or-miss, but he plays a good amount of stuff that you might like, they are free, and include complete tracklistings.

Also, check out yagya. Syrupy Icelandic analog goodness similar to deepchord/echospace. His song "Discernment" is at the end of Sacred Dub podcast #32.

Response by poster: yagya is great- i have rhythm of snow on vinyl but haven't heard anything else by him. I will look into more of his stuff.

mkb's list looks great. thanks for the list!

If you like Yagya, then definitely check out Deepchord Presents Echospace, "The Coldest Season" and Plastikman, "Consumed."
