Highly reputable tattoo shop in the Galveston area?

visiting my family in galveston, tx for 2 weeks. They of course know the area but could hardly be expected to advise me on tat shops.

I am taking into account that places might not be open due to the recent hurricane.

I'd really rather not go all the way to Houston, but anything before I hit the loop would be great. Thanks.

Response by poster: p.s. If anyone happens to have an artist recommendation, this would of course be appreciated.

I got my tattoo before I moved to Galveston. When I lived there, Body Language always seemed busy. I don't know if they are open, though. It is/was right on the Seawall just east of 25th.

Body Language is at the site where the three shops over the water were just destroyed. (24th and Seawall-ish) - I'm not sure that it would be open, but then again you never know.

I think my mom is still using bottled water at this point, so maybe for sterility's sake you'd rather go somewhere that has a little bit better grip on sanitation.

It is/was across the Seawall from the Balinese and the others. The debris from the three shops was moved elsewhere so that it could be sifted for historic artifacts, etc. Assuming the buildings on the land side of the Seawall were not damaged by the debris, they should be o.k. Anyhow, it's worth a drive by, to see what's left of the Flagship and all. (I haven't been on the Island since well before the storm, but our ex-neighbors told us stories you wouldn't believe...)

Anyhow, that part of the Island is no longer under a boil water order, and a tattoo shop should be sterilizing anyhow. If you are considering any sort of procedure where you are concerned about possible health impacts, be aware that UTMB is providing only limited medical services.

I live in Houston and visit Galveston from time to time. I don't know anything about the tattoo shops down that way. If you could deal with going into the Montrose area of Houston, Scorpion Studios is good. http://scorpionstudiostattoo.com/ My wife had a tattoo done there and they were great.

go to montrose. especially since galveston has some other stuff to deal with right now. besides, houston's montrose area is probably the best you'll find in the state outside of austin.

Response by poster: Yeah, so many places are just boarded up, including body language. Might have to try to head into montrose, that area sounds promising

Thanks guys.
