Exchange Rate - Australian Dollar to Vanuatu Vatu. Is it going to change soon?

Okay so going to Vanuatu in about a month. Previously the exchange rate was around 80 Vatu to the Australian dollar...recently it's dipped down to about 72 Vatu.

Haven't been following the recent Stock news but expect that its playing a large role...anyone wanna clue me in?

Will it change? Will it get better?

If people here could predict the future of currency markets, we would be off in Aruba being pampered by supermodels. Nobody knows.

Best answer: Currencies are fluctuating because there is fear in the market that respective governments may not have their act together in ensuring the stability of their currency/deposits. For example, the US dollar has been stronger against the Euro lately because the EU member states were setting up new safeguards and policies on an individual basis, instead of coming out with a solid plan to take effect across Europe on the same day. That made them look a bit flaky, and it caused the Euro to weaken for a while.

The best you could do in predicting the future exchange rate is to investigate what Australia is doing about the global financial crisis, and decide how that will affect confidence in the Australian dollar. But really.. what Electrius said. If you can't afford to take the risk, look into buying the currency right now.

well the Australian dollar just took a pretty big hit against most curencies last week. (which incidentally made me consider swapping some pounds for AUD - I'm an Australian in UK).

Realistically though I'm pretty confident the Australian Dollar will recover, and potentially over the next few weeks so you may be better to wait and just deal with it when you travel.... but then I could just be optimisitic.

are you relocated permanently to Vanuatu or holidaying?
