Question: Anyone know people at American Express?

Can you tell me the name and contact information for a person working in the Fraud Department at American Express? I'd even settle for the Fraud Department's direct phone line.

Since August I have been trying to get the name of a person—any person—working in the Fraud Department at American Express or the Fraud Department's direct telephone line. I am trying to resolve a fraud case for a client, and have gone to great lengths to speak with a live person in the department about the case.

Fraud Prevention and Data Security

From their website.

What happened when you called the number on the back of the card and asked for the fraud department?

You could try getting the Fraud Department via Executive Customer Service.

I don't know if this will help, but sometimes consumerist.com provides good contact information for large corporations. Here's what I found there for AmEx:

American Express Company
Executive Offices
200 Vesey Street
New York, New York 10285
212-640-2000

Executive Secretary's Office
212-640-5583

It's about a year old, but maybe it'll still work if you choose to go that route.

cjorgensen: That number takes me to American Express's "Merchant Services" department. When I asked the woman who answered (after she finally understood that I was not interested in opening a merchant account) how to reach the "Fraud Department" directly, she gave me the same regular customer service number (800-528-4800) that I've been dealing with all along. I won't go into the details of what I've had to deal with there, but it's been a nightmare.

jedicus: This number is seriously promising. The woman who answered promised to get back to me with answers within 24 hours. I will let you know how that goes.
