When smartphones have stupid features

Is there a voice note application for the blackberry curve that DOESN'T involve me sending an MMS or Email with the info to myself?
I'll be honest: I love my blackberry curve. But my old cell phone - a really horrible flip phone from verizon - had this one thing I loved...a voice recorder. You'd hit a button, it'd record your note and you could play it back later. Very fast, very simple.
Then I got the blackberry curve. Which was a million times better in dozens of ways. Except for the voice note feature.
On the blackberry, the voice note requires you to record your note, pick an email or phone number and then send it to someone else (in this case myself).
it's a really horrible system. It's slow, it's got too many steps and it involves at the least an unnecessary email and at most an MMS charge.
So, is there a third party piece of software for the blackberry curve that's good for voice notes? Or do I need to spring for a separate voice recorder and fill my pants pockets to full?

This wasn't immediately obvious to me either when I 1st started using the app.
