Teach me how to press up into a handstand.

What do I need to train to be able to press up into a handstand?

I have a lot of control getting in and out of handstands, holding them, etc. What I still haven't been able to do, after more than a year of practice, is to press up, rather than use momentum, to get into the handstand. What do I need to train, and how do I do it?

Best answer: Drills and Skills might be of some use. They have this article on getting a press to handstand. Having parallettes (you can make your own for about $5 work of PVC from Home Depot) would probably help.

Response by poster: A press-to-headstand as training mysteriously never occurred to me. And I already have parallettes (overpriced Nike ones, but they're pretty)! Fantastic, thank you!

Best answer: Also check Beast Skills.

Good luck!

And the PVC parallettes I built from Home Depot cost me $22 total, if I recall correctly.
