I recommend The House of Brews (at least at their 51st Street Location, haven't been to 46th). Good selection on tap and bottled. posted by effigy at 8:00 AM on September 14, 2008
seconding dba. Great beer selection, clientele a bit on the yuppie side. posted by jonmc at 8:30 AM on September 14, 2008
I guess yuppie is ok...it kind of goes against what I think of when I think of true hopp heads and home brewers, but alas it really is just about the beer right? posted by Black_Umbrella at 9:07 AM on September 14, 2008
Spuyten Duyvil, clientele a bit on the hipster side, but it is in Williamsburg after all. I'd go during non-peak bar hours to avoid the scene. posted by Thin Lizzy at 11:19 AM on September 14, 2008
Also, if you're going to be in Williamsburg, swing by Barcade. They're big beer nerds there and they were even featured in the beer nerd documentary "American Beer". Plus there's Pack Man. posted by Thin Lizzy at 11:28 AM on September 14, 2008
Thirding, dba. Nice garden in back! posted by nikitabot at 12:21 PM on September 14, 2008
(NB: The after-work crowd can be very heavily frat-ish. I recommend weekend afternoons for quieter enjoyment of their amazing selection.) posted by minervous at 2:25 PM on September 14, 2008
These are all great, i am looking forward the the Ginger Man, the big carboy in the bottom of the page is the same as the "growler" that DuClaw brewery offers. I wonder if they have the same cheap cheap refill deals...
I like barcarde but i hate to admit that i don't get out to williamsburg as much as i would like.
DBA also seems to be one that i need to go too. Keep the places coming! posted by Black_Umbrella at 2:49 PM on September 14, 2008
Spitzer's (no relation to the former gov) on the Lower East Side is good. Never been there on a weekend night, but it's pretty chill weekdays after work. posted by rachelv at 3:09 PM on September 14, 2008
