Question: Boosting the volume of iPod movies...

iPodfilter: How do I increase the volume of movies I want to put onto my iPod?

I sometimes convert movies from DVD or videos I've downloaded into .mp4 files for my iPod using Handbrake or iSquint. However, when I actually get to listen to them on my iPod they are always far too quiet to the point they are unlistenable. Is there anything I can use to boost this volume. Increasing the volume using iTunes still doesn't make them nearly loud enough.

Increasing the volume using iTunes still doesn't make them nearly loud enough.

When you say this, do you mean the overall volume setting, or the individual setting for the file?

Click on file -> Get Info -> Options tab -> Volume Adjustment

I have the same issue with my music. I just started using an iPod (rather than CDs) in my truck because it came with an aux jack. I sat there for days putting beaucoup music on my iPod (donated by my son) plugged her in and I had to turn the car stereo to 10 to get sound at about 4. Plugging a different iPod in does not have the same issue.

As Stackhaus23 asks, how do you boost the volume? Can you boast the level post copying or is it some setting while copying?
Music is a different matter, you can open mp3s in a wave editing music program (like Adobe Audition) and just boost the volume. It's just a hassle to do it to all of your songs. I need to know if there is a similar piece of software (for the Mac preferably) to do the same to my videos.

Hmm, try grabbing the old iMove from APple's website if you have the new (and more useless) edition. I'm sure you'll be able to adjust the volume of the sound by maxing out the EQ in that. Hope that helps.
