What is the legality of posting flyers to telephone poles and similar public spaces in Lyon, France, for the purpose of advertising a private, for-profit service such as language tutoring? Or: where online can I find this information? Another in a series of questions about the city. . .

I believe it is illegal: see this story from Dec 2007 - however I don't really know how/if they enforce it. Certainly people do it around the university though, and I think I remember seeing random noticeboards with stuff on them (maybe you just have to avoid the walls?).

This site might be helpful in looking for work.

For what it's worth, I did with great success in various cities of the world using a throw-away email address... I just did it carefully.

In the Croix-Rousse, they probably won't care, given the massive amount of permanent graffiti going on there... just try not to cover any graffiti. Although, the story that jacalata posted makes me think they're specific scouring C-R for postings. It also has a high student population, so it's a good market. Also, you can probably do it on the campuses themselves.
