Looking for a CMS/web-based software to manage regional event listings.

I'd like to build a site that lists car shows happening around the U.S. Ideally, I'd like to find a Wordpress-esque piece of software that can manage this for me, and offer things like Google Maps integration. Does such a thing exist, or am I going to have to roll this on my own?

Drupal can do this, but it has a bit of a steep learning curve...

Probably most commercial CMSes I know of wouldn't be too bad at this but if most of the pages on the site will be these listings, spending any money would probably be overkill.

It seems like you might be able to come up with something pretty cool based on MediaWiki, particularly via the Semantic MediaWiki extension and Semantic Google Maps or Semantic Layers. But I must admit I've drunk the MediaWiki kool-aid, guzzled it perhaps.

PS: an advantage of using MediaWiki for something like events is that, thanks to its origin in managing an encyclopedia, it's got all sorts of capabilities and extensions for cross-linking pages and categorizing pages and extensions for sophisticated functionality around categorization, like the CategoryTree extension, which creates nav controls like the one on the left of this page.

...and while looking for that I came across a handy-looking experimental extension, UploadCSV, which is designed to allow you to create a whole bunch of pages automatically by uploading a spreadsheet.

...and here's a Calendar extension for MediaWiki which seems pretty mature.
