Question: Laptop in Paris

Where to buy or rent a laptop, cheap, in Paris?

I'm here until the 28th (5th arr) and need to rent, borrow or buy a laptop for that time. The apartment I'm in has wifi. Off the shelf new was 700-800€ for a decent machine, that's just too much. Found a Toshiba Satellite M45 on craiglist for 150€ but it sold before I could grab it. Any suggestions ? This Nokia N800 internet tablet just isn't cutting it for communication and basic photo editing. Thanks in advance!

You could have a look at the 9" and 10" Atom-powered "Netbooks". They're often cheaper (€300-450) than regular laptops and can be used for communication and basic photo editing.

Blogeee.net tells you which ones are available in France or Paris.

in addition to what Akeem said, I know that the Asus eee 701 (small Linux-based laptop with SSD hard drive) is available in Paris at several places (Surcouf) for around 250 EUR; it only has a 7" screen but is decent for web browsing and light work (has built-in image editing apps, office suite, etc...). The 9" models (the 901, including the Windows XP ones) just came out and are 400 EUR, don't know about availability. I had a 701 and upgraded to the 901, both are decent but am happier with the 901.
