ANYTHING in Vegas...except a room at a casino hotel with a kitchen!

VegasFilter: What hotel can I cook a dinner in?

Yes, cooking a dinner in Vegas. No the basis for this isn't a radically different diet, a distaste for Vegas dining or anything like that. I'm going to Vegas soon, and I need a kitchen in my room (suite, villa, whatever the heck you want to call it) to cook a dinner. Thats all.

Here are the requirements that I have (which seem pretty basic, save the kitchen):

1. Its a casino hotel preferably ON the strip...if not, something close to the strip would be great as well.
2. Kitchen NOT a kitchenette or wet bar. I don't need all Viking appliances, but I dont want a microwave sitting atop a minifridge.
3. Multiple bedrooms connected to room is fine, but I DON'T want to pay something like $4,000/night for a fantasy suite at the Palms.

I simply can't find something that fulfills my requirements. I'm SURE there is an answer to this that doesn't require me to negotiate on the requirements above. I just can't seem to find it.

I have found TONS of places that fulfill 2 out of 3 requirements, but they don't have a kitchen or are out in BUFU and not connected to casinos.

So any help getting me closer to this room would be appreciated. And yes, I have called hotels directly and I still haven't found anything. I'm guessing there are a few people "in the know" about vegas on metafilter.

For a city where you can do anything...I'm kind of stumped, as are the reservations desks for the hotels I've called.

Thanks, mefites!

Let me guess that you are having problems where you can find full kitchens in non-casino strip hotels (i.e. extended stay hotels) or the suites with kitchens in casinos are crazy expensive?

I can't believe that the front desk or their supervisors can't tell you what the cheapest room with a kitchen would be (and they all have rooms with kitchens if the televisions shows about Vegas hotels are correct...although their price point might be too high for you).

Another thing you might do is call the concierge at one of the hotels that prides itself on service (Belliago, Wynn, etc.) and explain to them that you are considering their hotel but you have this special requirement about cooking a meal and see what they can offer you (assuming you are flexible about such things).

I'm a little confused about requirement one. Does it have to be a casino hotel, even if it's not on the strip? If you don't need a casino hotel but just something close to the strip, something like this would work. It's right next to the convention center and within walking distance of the strip. Or try searching for other extended stay hotels near the strip, all of which should have full working kitchens.

Check out the Trump International Hotel and Tower.

Select the "One Bedroom Suite Kitchen" on the right side of the page. The non-suite rooms have small 2 burner Wolf or Viking cooktops and small Subzero fridges. The suites appear to have full-sized appliances.

No casino. But a 3-4 minute walk to the Wynn.

The Platinum. One block off the strip (behind Ballys). Great hotel. Huge suite for the price (I think I paid something like $180 a night). Full refigerator, small stove, microwave, etc. Non-smoking. Non-gaming.

Start calling concierges at MGMM/Mandalay and Ceaser's/Harrah's. Those are the two biggest corporations on the strip. You can ask a concierge type person there whether any of the properties they own have what you're looking for.

Thanks for the help, guys. Let me address your answers:

mmascolino: Seriously, THAT is what I thought. I called the wynn, and not even their fairway apartments have kitchens. With the Bellagio, the quoted me prices for their villas which come with their own pools...but no kitchen. I cannot even find a crazy expensive suite with a kitchen. No kitchen!

eatenbyagrue: No you're not confused; I need a casino hotel on or near a strip. It HAS to be a casino hotel, it does not have to be on the strip. The residences without a casino would NOT work.

probablysteve: Thanks...thats the best option I found as well...if I didn't need a casino in the hotel.

I really appreciate all your guys posts. Thanks for trying to help me out...I'm still holding out for someone who can totally save me.

Just to address it again...it HAS to be a gaming hotel.

You could start calling the smaller, more obscure places like The Hilton and The Westin.

Thing is, in a gaming hotel you're supposed to be gambling, not cooking. If you're not gambling, you should be buying overpriced food and drinks.

Also, places in BUFU often have regular shuttles to the strip. The Marriot (which may have appliances, I didn't check) has regular shuttles to the strip and the malls.

Ultimately, I hate to say it, but you're probably going to have to compromise. Vegas is a place to get away from things like cooking dinner and cleaning dishes - there's not a lot of demand for home cooked meals on the strip.

My sweetie and I stayed in a one-bedroom suite at The Signature at MGM Grand. They are connected to the Grand by an enclosed moving walkway—think a six-minute walk to get to the gaming.

Our room had full Sub-Zero fridges with freezers, full-size Miele convection ovens, and a full complement of utensils and cookery. Bring your own olive oil, but leave the sponges and dishwasher liquid at home—it's all provided for you (you can even choose between manualdishwashing or the machine).

The reservations people at The Signature are extremely helpful. I highly, highly recommend this place.
